Anti-Wrinkle Injections
How It Works?
Wrinkles are caused by various factors, including cellular changes, loss of collagen, and damage from free radicals due to sun exposure and environmental stress. Repeated facial movements, such as frowning and squinting, also contribute to wrinkle formation. For example, when you frown, the muscles between your brows contract, causing creases, while squinting leads to crow's feet around the eyes.
"Botox" or Neurotoxin injections work beneath the skin’s surface, targeting the muscle activity responsible for creating frown lines and crow’s feet.
Please note that in Ireland, only a licensed medical doctor is permitted to administer neurotoxin injections.
Frown Lines
One of our experienced specialists will administer injections into the forehead muscles responsible for creating horizontal lines (frontalis), the lines between the eyebrows (procerus, often called "elevens"), and the corrugator muscles (for eyebrow lifting).
By temporarily relaxing these muscles, frown lines are visibly reduced.
Crow’s Feet
Crow’s feet are wrinkles that develop around the eyes due to smiling, squinting, or laughing. For non-surgical treatment, specialists inject into three areas of the orbicularis oculi muscle, which frames the side of the eye. This temporarily reduces muscle activity, softening the appearance of crow’s feet.
More About the Treatment
While Toxin is primarily used to reduce skin wrinkles by relaxing muscles, it can also create a lifting effect. Facial muscles are divided into two groups: depressors, which pull the skin down, and levators, which pull it up.
Dr. Paul, along with experienced specialists in Ireland, can create a lifting effect by selectively targeting depressor muscles.
Toxin is also an effective preventative treatment for minimizing the development of wrinkles. Additionally, it is used to safely treat various medical conditions, including hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), migraine headaches, facial acne, back pain, stroke-related muscle contractures, blepharospasm, and even depression.

How long does the treatment take?
Most injection treatments take between 15 to 30 minutes. Your exact time will depend on the type of treatment and the area being treated.
Do I need a consultation before booking?
You don’t need to specifically book a consultation; during your first visit and before each subsequent treatment, Dr. Paul will discuss your goals, medical history, and any concerns. If you would like to book a consultation only, you can do so online by sending a message or by calling one of the clinics.
Do I need to prepare anything before the treatment?
Generally not. Botulinum Toxin and Hyaluronic Acid have an excellent safety profile and decades of evidence.
